THE OPPORTUNITY The Studio Porter has responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of Austin Studios, working with AFS's management, the operations team and the tenants to support creative media production in Austin.
The Studio Porter will join AFS's operations team at a significant moment in the organization's strategic development as AFS plans for Austin Studios' expansion into a decommissioned National Guard Armory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Studio Porter monitors a 20-acre facility, consisting of production stages, shop space, office buildings, and a screening room.
The expansion added two hangars and a large office building.
The Studio Porter is responsible for maintaining the buildings in good repair, handling tenant work orders, and developing the needs list for improvements.
He/she works closely with vendors and reports to the Studio Manager.
The detailed job description follows:
JANITORIAL AND LIGHT MAINTENANCE - Maintain cleanliness of common areas, AFS offices, restrooms, and some tenant suites - Change air filters - Replace light bulbs - Basic plumbing repair - Light construction and repairs - Oversee maintenance of all facilities, including AFS office - Recommend repairs - Organize on- and off-site storage, equipment, furniture and supplies - Complete inventory of supplies and informs manager when additional supplies are needed GROUNDS AND LANDSCAPING - Trim and cut grass, bushes, shrubs, and trees - Clean trash and debris from the lot - Planting, fertilizing and other gardening jobs - Keep all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly PRODUCTION LIAISON - Ensure that productions comply with studio policies and procedures - Make sure client needs are handled quickly, efficiently, and professionally COMMUNICATIONS - Keep studio operations group and other departments informed daily on aspects of productions working on the lot ADMINISTRATION - Train interns to work together and as a back-up - Assist in regular review of expenses compared to budget - Accept occasional assignments from management REQUIREMENTS - Ability to perform physical activity, including heavy lifting - Comfortable operating equipment such as deck mowers, string trimmers, scissor lifts, and more - Able to work at least one weekend day per week - Able to work remotely, work a split shift, or be on call - Possess at least a Class C Drivers License - Basic knowledge of general building maintenance - Ability to understand written and verbal English instructions and carry them out without direct supervision - Excellent customer service skills PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES - Enjoy walking the lot daily and interacting with a variety of tenants, customers and vendors, some with competing priorities - A team player, committed to communication and outcomes - A self-starter with follow-through - Energy and enthusiasm - Resourceful, innovative and forward-thinking TO APPLY jobs@austinfilm.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
