About the team and the role:
The Enphase System Control Innovation (SCI) team in the office of the CTO is responsible for defining, prototyping, and supporting the next generation system control solutions for Enphase products.
The team is an integrated, multi-disciplinary group that is fast-moving and looking for motivated individuals that can contribute and collaborate closely with the team to deliver innovative solutions.
As a member of the SCI team, you will solve some of the most exciting problems in the distributed energy space and help shape the direction of our products.
The Enphase SCI team is seeking a Staff Hardware Design Electrical Engineer to develop, integrate, and validate power hardware for next generation system control products and improve current designs.
Responsibilities include:
Create innovative embedded and power hardware integration designs to support next generation energy system products Specification, design, schematic capture, prototyping, and debug of complex circuits, PCBs, and electrical assemblies including high-speed digital processing and communications, sensors, relays, power protection, and power conditioning subsystems Hands-on bring up of hardware circuits, PCBs, and energy system hardware (relays, power meters, power converters, communications devices, etc.
) Apply simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and prototype testing to ensure hardware designs meet functionality and performance requirements Optimize product solutions with firmware/hardware control co-design Work with a multi-disciplinary team to test and troubleshoot new product designs Mentor junior staff Required Education and
Experience:
BS/MS/PhD Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or closely related discipline BS and 12
years / MS and 5
years / PhD and 3
years power hardware development experience Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Special Attributes:
Strong digital, mixed-signal, discrete, and embedded hardware design skills with commercial product experience Experience specifying components for and developing designs including embedded platforms including microcontrollers, microprocessors, RAM, Flash, communications peripherals, etc.
Expertise with developing solutions that consider computational performance, cost, power dissipation, thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility, reliability, and manufacturability Ability to troubleshoot hardware-related issues within complex systems and drive solutions Proficiency with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, protocol analyzers, electronic loads, power supplies, etc.
Ability to take ownership of development tasks and drive them to completion in a timely manner and with high quality to support team success Additional Desired Skills:
High-volume product development experience A track record of innovation as evidenced by patents, technical publications, etc.
Experience integrating power hardware components (e.
g.
, relays, meters, busbar, current transformers, etc.
) and assemblies Familiarity with power electronics circuits/designs and devices Experience using OrCad for schematic capture and Cadence Allegro for PCB layout Proficiency with devices, interfaces, and protocols for industrial communications such as Controller Area Network (CAN), IEC61850, TCP/IP, RS-485, etc.
