Principal Software Engineering Lead

Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft cloud services through the operation of our unified global datacenters enabling 30% of Microsoft revenue through Commercial Cloud ($38 billion in FY20 Q1).
Our team is focused on improving the productivity of Cloud operations and engineering teams, particularly by inverting how business decisions are made accelerating our move to automated, data-driven decisions made by intelligent software that can present decision-makers with pre-optimized options.
Our team is looking for a Principal Software Engineering Lead to transform how Microsoft delivers cloud computing resources around the world.
We operate at the center of Microsoft s business transformation to ensure compute capacity is available when and where it is needed.
We work with multiple engineering and business teams to connect data and systems that enable critical business decision-making.
In this role, a Principal Software Engineering Lead will work closely with business stakeholders, program managers, and other software engineers to deliver robust, high-performing, mission-critical solutions for datacenter resource management that ensure Microsoft meets availability and resiliency obligations for our cloud customers.

Required/Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6
years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.
4
years experience with distributed system design.
4
years of industry experience developing software platforms in server or cloud based systems.
2
years experience in computational optimization utilizing integer programming/linear programming techniques.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10
years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8
years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.

years people management experience.
Knowledge of various design patterns and technologies that enable business problem-solving at scale.
Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.
S.
is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year.
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
