Summary of Role:

This position will be responsible for defining internal product quality requirements for the Residential business unit mainly on storage and auxiliary electronic products. This person shall ensure proper alignment of quality technical requirements vis- -vis field technical applications through cross-functional interface with Products Engineering and Field Applications Engineering. In the event of product failures, this person shall also serve as an internal quality interface in mapping out the internal process and technical gaps and drive internal corrective actions and validate the effectiveness of such measures.

Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:

  • Overall in-charge of defining internal quality requirements for storage and auxiliary electronic products for the Residential business unit.
  • Ensure internal product quality readiness prior to approval to mass production through interface with Field Applications Engineers and Technical Support Engineers.
  • Lead internal Process FMEAs based on initial signals during NPI stage at residential sites.
  • Audit alignment of product specifications to field application requirements through interface with Supplier Quality Engineering, Product Engineering and Field Quality.
  • Understand the technology and functionality of electronic products and be able to assess the risk of field failures, so that they can be prevented during development.
  • Participate as a critical member of the Corrective Action team. When necessary, lead systematic problem-solving via 8D process for product and systems-related issues, define root causes of failures and interface cross-functionally to determine corrective and preventive actions.
  • Over-see product defect rates, top causes of field issues, determine failure modes and lead investigations in view of preventing recurrence.
  • Deliver solutions to complex problems through in-depth data analysis by using methodical approaches, along with experience and judgment to make decisions that may be based on partial information.
  • Develop processes, test procedures and implement systems that ensure the products and processes fulfill quality standards, meet safety regulations and satisfy customer expectations.
  • Develop sampling procedures, forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering and 5
    years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 3
    years or Ph.D. 2
    years
  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
  • Industry experience in one or more of the following: Electronics Fab Process Operations, Test, Design or Product Engineering, Reliability Qualification.
  • 5
    years experience in consumer or automotive electronics; storage/battery experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, work cross-functionally across multiple organizations and deliver requirements even with an initial set of vague information.

Essential
Qualifications:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor, preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of product documentation, specifications, drawings, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in statistical analysis software (JMP, Minitab, etc).
  • Intensive experience in CAPA and/or 8D Problem Solving.
  • Thorough knowledge of Quality Engineering, design control, verification and validation tools and methodologies.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Able to travel up to 25%
  • Able to work sometimes in a test laboratory and field solar exposure test site.
