The Practice Leader partners with the BC Operations Leader (BCOL) and the broader principal-led leadership team to lead and manage, inspire and engage, win and do work - building a culturally strong and high performing business. This position sits in our Texas Buildings practice and reports to the Regional Business Leader for the South and North Central region. Your Key Responsibilities Business Development & Collaboration:
Develop and grow new sectors within the Texas market, establishing a new client base using strong marketing, business development, sales account management plans to achieve business development and financial goals. Develop and manage the marketing and business development (M&BD) plan including cross selling. Increase visibility of Stantec, to enhance our reputation and drive revenue, by sharing our knowledge and innovation story at key client engagements. Partner with other leaders to drive collaboration on pursuits across geographies and business lines. Actively contribute to win strategies and successful project execution through being hands-on in key pursuits, client management and project management. Collaborate with fellow market leaders, BC leaders and regional and national Sector Leader's (SL's) to develop and leverage expertise across offices. Practice:
Inspire, motivate, and hold the team accountable for the delivery of innovative design solutions. Drive project excellence. Leads or assigns responsibility to manage project delivery, QAQC, discipline excellence and technical quality, documents quality and best practices in the execution of work. Accountable for design excellence in a multidisciplinary practice to foster innovation, sustainable design principles and use of technology. Accountable for compliance with ISO-certified Integrated management System and Project management (PM) Frameworks. Leads or assigns responsibility for management, needs assessment and provision of digital practice, tools and applications in support of delivering work. Outreach:
Identify opportunities for Industry and Community Outreach. Attend selected conferences and maintaining active memberships in associations (such as board posts and committee memberships). Partner with the Marketing team to develop sector campaigns for Stantec brand recognition through presentation/speaking opportunities, papers, public relations, awards, etc. Contribute to and support Stantec client satisfaction/survey program. Monitor and advise on market trends across the Texas market. Solicit and facilitate sharing of industry knowledge. Client & Project Focus:
Exceeding client expectations through strong account management and personally leading accounts for major clients in the BC. Lead and participate in pursuits and campaigns for major BC opportunities. Lead delivery of significant project pursuits. Drive client relationship strategy in partnership with the Principal leadership team. Actively contribute to written content in major projects. Oversee risk management of projects and pursuits, including review of contracts, fees, proposals on large pursuits, in partnership with our risk management team. People Leadership:
Collaborate with leadership to develop, attract, engage and retain top talent. Establish employee connectedness to leadership by interfacing frequently with employees. Support the overall talent management lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development. Develop and lead a team of business developers and project teams. Business and Financial Management:
Collaborate on the annual budget for the BC, outlining the vision, focus, priorities for implementation, and setting specific goals for business performance. Accountable for top line revenue growth and collaborate across leadership to establish and achieve net revenue, gross margin, SG&A, and operating income targets. Responsible for net revenue forecasts by period, quarter and year end. Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Multidisciplinary experience in the Texas market. Exceptionally strong understanding of the Texas market, including industry trends and industry leaders. Ability to read the market for growth opportunity and stay ahead of competitors. Proven success in entering and growing new markets. Experience in transformational leadership and change management to drive positive and seamless diversification into new sectors. Strong business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base. Strong experience in market assessment techniques, insights, and contacts. Demonstrated design acumen and leadership on major projects. Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, Statement of Qualifications. Strong seller-doer capable of generating work and creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients for Stantec. An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting-services provider. Dynamic leader with visible passion for employee engagement and development. Experience working in a large organization and constructively collaborating across multiple stakeholders and processes. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Proven success in developing new clients and maintaining strong client relationships. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, or related Buildings practice degree. Professional registration in related field. 15 years of experience in business development in the Architecture and Engineering industry Exceptionally strong understanding of the Texas market Strong experience in growing new markets and diversification. Focused portfolio in project types including Industrial, Civic, and/or Department of Defense.
Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
Minimum Qualification
Business DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
