Austin, TX Austin, TX Full-time Full-time $4,167 - $6,000 a month $4,167 - $6,000 a month 15 hours ago 15 hours ago 15 hours ago Seeking Data Analyst to perform entry to journey level data gathering and analysis for all ERS benefit programs within the Group Benefits Program and for those contracts managed within the Group Benefits Division.
Work is performed under the direction of the Data Scientist and under the supervision of the Actuarial and Reporting Services manager.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to analyze large volumes of data for accuracy and trends and also to explain discrepancies.
Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs Data Gathering and Analysis Assists in developing the data reporting and analysis for all ERS benefit programs; insurance, flexible benefits, Medicare Part D and actuarial consulting.
Assists in analyzing claim and premium experience on all insurance programs to determine financial integrity of each plan.
Researches benefit costs.
Reviews claims data to ensure benefits are processed correctly.
Conducts research and determines the financial impact on issues that impact ERS benefit programs.
Assist with preparing technical reports to help monitor the status of Accountable Care Organizations and other ERS initiatives.
Assists in the completion and submission of various benefit surveys.
Performs network analysis and develops reports to assist with management of GBP networks.
Researches business applications, methods and practices that may be applicable to the GBP.
Researches discrepancies between claims and payments Assist in reviews of federal and state legislation for applicability to and impact on ERS benefit programs.
Assists in developing rates and contribution strategies by pulling reports and performing research for self-funded health, dental, vision, disability, and optional life plans.
Researches techniques for monitoring and evaluating programs.
Assists in the implementation of new technologies to enhance ERS policies and procedures with respect to benefit purchasing, implementation and administration.
Assist in reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules and regulations and monitors compliance.
Assists in the development of contract values for governance reporting.
Assists in the development and review of procedures.
Assists in the calculation of vendor amounts at risk for performance guarantee assessments Reconciles claims data to payments and researches discrepancies.
Performs Financial Analysis and Reporting Prepares reports reflecting vendor credits, rebates and refunds expected and received.
Analyzes statistical and financial reports.
Assists in the preparation of agenda items and presentations to the ERS Board of Trustees.
Prepares rate spreadsheets, system text files and system load updates.
As Data Analyst II, will complete all functions as Data Analyst I and also:
Interprets results to identify significant differences in data.
Cleans and prunes data to discard irrelevant information.
Assists in developing methods for mitigating data issues and deploys those methods to correct issues.
Required Minimum
Qualifications:

1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in science, mathematics, or similar analytic field.
Each year of related experience over the required may be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) of required college credit.
2) One (1) to two (2) years (depending on classification level) of professional experience in data analysis, statistical analysis, programming, mathematics or similarly related field.
