Austin, TX Austin, TX Full-time Full-time $75,811 - $120,500 a year $75,811 - $120,500 a year DNT Construction is looking for an experienced Civil Construction Safety Director to take ownership of safety on various heavy civil projects throughout the Central Texas region.
The Safety manager frequently visits jobsites to ensure safety follows company policies as well as federal/state guidelines.
Schedule:
Typically Monday through Friday from 7:
00 AM to 5:
00 PM but occasionally up to six (6) days per week Travel:
Daily travel around job sites from Waco to Beeville (central Texas) CIVIL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY DIRECTOR
Essential Functions:
Ensure a 'Safety First' attitude throughout the project from all levels of management and Operations Supervise, manage, and direct the selection, training, development, and appraisal of project safety Read, understand, and plan according to the work specifications and contract responsibilities Anticipate project conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and work with Ops & PM's (Owners/Management) to implement solutions to avoid issues Understand and plan work according to project plans Monitor and report safety incidents and reports as required Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public Follow all safety protocols and make sure job specific safety guidelines are met for each individual project Track safety training for employees to make sure we stay compliant File any relevant paperwork with government regulatory agencies Administers, implements and coordinates the Company's safety programs to control risks and losses Analyzes and classifies risks as to frequency and potential severity, and measures financial impact of risk on Company (preparing operation and risk reports for management analysis) Maintains liaison with outside organizations to assure information exchange and mutual assistance Provides senior management with comprehensive recommendations to improve business operations and safety performance Serves as trusted advisor to a team of 2-3 field safety supervisors to assist them in executing the Safety program Maintain professional and technical knowledge for all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
Track and close every incident in order to correct violations and risks to people, property, the public and the organization Attends conferences, seminars and courses to maintain continued awareness of safety programs.
Understands and interprets local, state and federal regulations and statutes relative to environmental safety, employee safety, and Workers' Compensation to ensure the Company is in compliance CIVIL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS Requires good oral communication skills to communicate effectively with employees and management Requires the ability to work in very stressful and dangerous working conditions Must be able to comprehend occupational safety and health regulations, other state and federal regulations governing the construction industry, and Company practices and procedures.
Must be able to apply these concepts at the construction site Strong supervisory and leadership skills Interacts with and uses third party insurance and medical care providers; handling and managing all associated documentation for compliance Must be able to work with others and be a team player CIVIL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY DIRECTOR REQUIREMENTS Working knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting (OSHA 300) Valid driver license Ability to develop and implement safety programs Experienced in root cause investigations CSP, CHST, SSHO a
Excellent communication & presentation skills (as you will interact with staff at all levels) Must be able to rotate weekend on call schedule for emergency situations CIVIL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY DIRECTOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree preferred OSHA-500 & OSHA-510 certified Other applicable designations and certifications that demonstrate competency Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred CIVIL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY DIRECTOR PAY RATE Commensurate with experience Job Type:
