The Associate Human Resources Director is responsible for the HR department s policies, processes, activities, and staff. The Associate HR Director will create and implement HR policies, and HR processes, manage HR staff, analyze and report HR metrics, and mitigate legal risk to the organization.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Supervise and counsel HR staff, including recruiting, learning and development, benefits, HRIS and compensation, and HR Generalist.
  • Provide proactive training and education to HR staff. Prepare and administer regular performance reviews and develop accountabilities.
  • Establish clear systems and processes for managing conflicts with and between employees.
  • Manage HR Generalist and assist with escalated employment relations issues, including exit interviews, performance management, and promotions.
  • Analyze HR metrics across the region companies for informed decision-making. Develop financial strategies for HR operations by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements.
  • Create and improve processes for sustainability and growth.
  • Develop human resource strategies by identifying needs and researching improvement methods.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations and stay current with existing and new legislation.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities.
  • Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a need to know basis.
  • Complete project work as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Five or more years experience of related work experience in HR management.
  • HR Certification preferred.
  • Familiar with both traditional and modern job training methods, trends, and techniques.
  • Strong experience working with computers and related office software is required.
  • Demonstrated skills in group process facilitation, change management, training, and project management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with proficiency in writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting of user-friendly, customer-ready materials.
  • Strong presentation skills with experience in providing instructor-led training.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined, with the capacity to work on multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and within time constraints.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Experience in a construction environment preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver s license.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access
  • Strong work ethic and high standards for safety in the workplace.
  • High level of responsiveness.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and regulations.
  • Business acumen partnered with attention to the human element.
  • Knowledge of HR data analytics and reporting
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
