Intern/Co-op - ELP Engineer (Summer 2018)

The National Instruments Applications Engineering organization is hiring paid Interns in Summer 2018 for our Engineering Leadership Program (ELP).
ELP is designed for college students who have strong leadership qualities, in addition to strong technical skills, who are open to developing their careers at National Instruments in the areas of technical sales, technical marketing, and R&D product support and project management.
As an ELP Intern or Co-op, you have the opportunity to apply what you have learned in your classes directly to real-world applications. Your internship begins with training on NI flagship software and hardware. Your training continues by developing your NI technical skills and enhancing your communication skills by working with NI customers for two or more weeks to help them find appropriate technical solutions to their product or application development challenges. Next, you start a challenging technical project that you lead and own; projects include assignments in R&D, technical marketing. You will also participate in training on NI vision, product and business strategies, time management, and other insightful classes.
This experience will give you a well-rounded perspective of working at National Instruments and the opportunity to work with the latest computer-based measurement technologies, while also making a valuable contribution to NI.

Pursuing a BS degree with preferred majors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
Will consider bachelor degree with major in Engineering Physics or Physics, or one of the following other engineering degrees:
Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or Wireless Engineering
Minimum cumulative (overall) GPA 3.0
Class Standing of Sophomore or above, with preference given to well-qualified rising juniors and rising seniors
Willingness to relocate to Austin, Texas for period of internship or co-op assignment
English Language Competency and effective communication skills
Communicate clearly and concisely in English, so that persons and customers you work with can understand you clearly, particularly when in technical conversations
Strong oral and written communication skills
Comfortable explaining and writing about technical subject matter
Confident speaking in front of a group
An understanding of electronics, computers, and high-level programming languages (C, C , etc.)
Likes to learn about computer technologies; likes to be an expert in technical subject matter
Likes helping making others successful; good interpersonal skills
Enjoys solving technical problems
Leadership qualities gains respect of others, has an entrepreneurial spirit, seen as a leader by others

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
