The Hanger team is looking to add a Manager, System Engineering to our team in Austin. The Manager, Systems Engineering requires strong leadership skills in managing daily operations. Additionally the role is responsible for the planning and engineering of our organization's systems infrastructure. It also ensures that hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of our organization. Other responsibilities include monitoring systems performance and providing recommendations as required. Additionally, the role ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and are adhering to approved budgets. This position reports to the Director of Infrastructure Services.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of Systems Engineering including Storage, Virtualization, Messaging, and Backup and Recovery Services,
Keeping all technology up to date with current updates and patches with a priority on security patches
Ensuring all Microsoft and VMWare products are properly licensed and accounted for
Prepare status and activity metrics tracking delivery of Systems Engineering services and planned and unplanned systems outages.
Manage overall capacity utilization of systems and storage environment ensuring it is optimized to meet business requirements
Owns and maintains strict controls on backups and recovery services
Implement, and maintain processes and procedures for effective delivery of services and compliance with regulatory guidance
Manage day-to-day operations including ticket system, assignment of work and providing high level reporting
Managing staff members in their daily activities as well as supporting business projects
Establish and implement best-practice standards as well as departmental policies and procedures
Qualifications
Bachelors degree is required
A minimum of 10 years experience in Information Technology with 5 of those years being in Information Technology Management
Working knowledge of Data Center Hardware (Intel Servers)
Working knowledge of Windows Servers, Active Directory, and Exchange
Working knowledge of multi-tier, multi-site SAN environment for both Block and File
Working knowledge of VMWare OS Virtualization and Citrix Desktop and Application Virtualization environments
Working knowledge of Backup and Recovery Services
Must have good people skills and the ability to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Must be a champion for IT standards, procedures, policies, and best practices
Must have proven management skills with the ability to mentor staff members
Experience with implementing and maintaining a business continuity / disaster recovery environment (high availability)
Must have proven experience in leading IT infrastructure groups in complex and dynamic environments
Ability to recognize priority issues and escalate accordingly
