Security Research Engineer

Job Description

The Application and Threat Intelligence team creates the information about current security threats and modern applications that are used across a number of Ixia products spanning network visibility, security and test.


Responsibilities:

The ATI Security Research Engineer will work as part of the Strike Development team within ATI. The engineer will find and analyze new vulnerabilities in order to construct attacks that are then integrated into a variety of products.

  • Research newly discovered vulnerabilities in a wide range of software products
  • Reverse engineer and research network protocols, file formats, and software
  • Produce articles and reports detailing the vulnerabilities and the implementation
  • Implement new and improve existing tools to automate and streamline the vulnerability research process
Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge in a variety of operating systems
  • Broad knowledge of network protocols with an emphasis on HTTP
  • Software development in multiple languages (C, C++, Python, Ruby, assembly, shell scripting, etc)
  • Ability to analyze and describe vulnerabilities and attack methods
  • In-depth knowledge with tools such as Wireshark, OllyDbg, and WinDbg
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a drive to attain a combined success
  • Creative, problem-solving approach to projects
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability and passion to learn the latest technologies
  • Reliable and dependable team player
  • Great attention to detail and personal quality assurance

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong programming skills are highly preferred
  • At least one publicly available vulnerability discovery, exploit development, and/or open source tool
  • Strong domain knowledge in vulnerability research and exploit development
  • Experience in static and dynamic reverse engineering of x86 binaries
  • Experience administering a variety of network and server equipment

Education and
Experience:

  • College degree in CS, EE or equivalent experience
  • 2
    years of related experience in security research
