SWI Admin Asst II The position is located at the Statewide Intake (SWI) 24-hour Abuse Hotline that accepts reports of abuse and/or neglect of children, and abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of elderly and/or disabled adults.
The position ensures callers are routed appropriately and the information processed by SWI Protective Services Specialists is routed, assigned and called out to appropriate DFPS staff and other organizations for further action.
Work also involves notifying law enforcement of all intakes received related to Child Protective Services and Child Care Licensing.
The position provides information to the public calling the contact center and documents details of all calls.
The position routinely interacts with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services staff including all levels of SWI staff, the general public, law enforcement and other organizations.
Essential Job Functions:
Answers and routes calls received on both the main SWI 1-800# and the DFPS administrative 1-800#; accesses appropriate resource information in IMPACT and provides that information to the public, SWI, other DFPS staff and various organizations; uses the IMPACT system to document details of calls (25%).
Generates law enforcement notification on CPS and CCL cases in IMPACT, routes them to the appropriate law enforcement jurisdiction as identified by the intake worker (25%).
Notifies regional staff of high priority cases and conveys details of the intake via phone; updates the on-call schedule when regional staff is unavailable to make changes (25%).
Uploads faxed and mailed correspondence from outside agencies and the public for processing.
Files and/or mails the completed correspondence to the appropriate destination (20%).
Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit and overall business operations (5%).
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of office protocol and procedures.
Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
Ability to interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures when assisting DFPS staff, other agencies and the public.
Ability to operate a personal computer and use various internet and software applications.
Ability to multi task and prioritize workloads.
Ability to use basic office equipment.
Ability to wear headsets for phone access.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
None required.
Initial Selection Criteria:
Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.
One-year full-time administrative support, general office, clerical or secretarial experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
